Paul And Juanita Scoggan Named King And Queen At Mitchell Manor Prom

Last updated on Monday, June 9, 2014

(MITCHELL) - Paul and Juanita Scoggan were named king and queen at the Aloha Luau Senior Prom at Mitchell Manor in Mitchell.

According to LaDona Cagle, they celebrate their anniversary at the prom each year. This was the first time the couple was named king and queen.

The king and queen had quite the tropical kingdom. Activities and admissions associates decorated the dining room in Hawaiian style: fish nets with sea creatures hung on the walls, and tables were set with fish nets, pineapples, leis and tiki torches.

Residents, associates and guests visited two tiki huts -- one for punch and the other for food. The dietary department made a delicious spread of scallops wrapped in bacon, antipasto skewers, mini quiches, assorted tropical fruits (pineapples, mangos, papayas, bananas, kiwis, oranges and strawberries), mini chocolate cheesecakes and coconut dessert quiche.

While people ate, a disc jockey played Hawaiian music and favorites from the 1950s and 1960s. Of course, with the upbeat tunes, several guests got up and danced. Department heads waited at each table in the dining room.
