Last updated on Tuesday, June 3, 2014

(MARTINSVILLE) - Martinsville Central Elementary School Principal 35-year-old Peter Jochim has been arrested for driving an ATV under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested Friday night after a report of an ATV accident in the area of 4700 West Division Road in Morgantown.

According to Indiana Conservation officer Jon Fenning, Jochim was driving a Polaris side by side ATV when he made a sharp left turning causing his passenger 32-year-old Kristina Koons, of Martinsville, who works as a aide at the school, to be thrown from the vehicle. She suffered head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.

According to Michele Moore superintendents of schools, Jochim is cooperating with police. The school district is also investigating the incident and will take appropriate action, based upon the investigation by both the district and police. Because the case is still under investigation and involves a personnel matter the school is not releasing any further statements until the investigation is complete.
