(BEDFORD) - Lucas Howell was named the Youth of the Year Friday by Boys & Girls Club Chief Professional Officer Kyle Brown.
Howell, a 2014 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School, was accompanied on stage by his family for the presentation of the honor.]
The award was presented during the Becky Skillman Leadership Institute.
Brown says Howell is a true mentor having both patience and the personality to work with children.
Howell graduated from BNL with a 3.7 grade point average and plans to attend Indiana University. He is active in youth groups at Mount Pleasant Christian Church and First Baptist Church.
In high school, he organized the annual bike rally, which raised $3,000 for the Boys & Girls Club.
