Cummins To Build New Technical And Office Center

Last updated on Wednesday, June 18, 2014

(SEYMOUR) - Engine maker Cummins Inc. is about to start construction on a new technical and office center in Seymour.

Company executives and local officials took part in a groundbreaking ceremony Monday in Seymour for the center that will be the headquarters for Cummins' high-horsepower division.

The Tribune reports the $70 million center will bring together engineers from several Cummins locations and could have more than 600 people working there when it is completed next year.

Cummins vice president Ed Pence says the new center will speed up the launch of new products for the Columbus-based company.

Cummins expects to start production next month at its Seymour factory of a new 4,000-horsepower diesel engine designed for industrial uses.
