Last updated on Thursday, June 19, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Commission (BPSC) is accepting applications for its Bicycle Instructor Corps program.

The deadline for submitting an application is July 1.

The purpose of the Bicycle Instructor Corps is to improve access to comprehensive bicycling education for Bloomington residents. Members will work together, with the BPSC, and other community organizations, to provide a variety of opportunities for instruction in safe, legal, and effective bicycling techniques.

Members of the Bicycle Instructor Corps will receive extensive training through the League of American Bicyclists' League Cycling Instructor (LCI) program. A grant award from the Bloomington Bicycle Club will cover instruction costs.

Funding is available to select up to five individuals for this program. Details of the program, including an on-line application form, can be found at www.bloomington.in.gov/bpsc. Applications to the program should be submitted through the on-line form by 5:00 pm on July 1, 2014.
