(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident that sent a Bloomington man to the hospital.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. Monday, ICO Lance Labonte was dispatched to the Fluck Mill Road area in southwest Monroe County to investigate an ATV accident with possible serious injury.
Upon arriving, Labonte discovered that 53-year-old James Lee, of Bloomington was operating a Polaris Ranger ATV on the roadway when he lost control and struck a bridge abutment and then a tree. Lee was thrown from the ATV in the process.
Lee suffered numerous injuries, including a broken leg and broken ribs. He was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington.
Lee was not wearing a seatbelt or protective gear at the time of the incident.
Alcohol is suspected of being a key factor in the accident.
Indiana Conservation Officers would like to remind the public that it is unlawful to operate an ATV under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol.
