(WILLIAMS) - A Bedford man is suffering from serious Injuries after falling 17 feet from a platform adjacent to the Williams Dam Saturday night.

According to Indiana Conservation officers, 47-year-old Jerry Lemmons was fishing from the platform, commonly known as the "catwalk" when he lost his balance and fell to the concrete below, near the White River.

Lemmons suffered multiple broken bones and head trauma. Indian Creek and Williams Volunteer Firefighters utilized ropes and a stokes basket to haul Lemmons to higher ground, where he was then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

Other assisting agencies included the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Seals Ambulance Service. The incident remains under investigation by conservation officers.
