Two Women Arrested After Allegedly Stealing From Dollar General Store

Last updated on Thursday, May 22, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford women were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly stole items at the Dollar General Store on X Street, in unrelated incidents.

43-year-old Michelle Garrison was arrested after Bedford Police received a call at 7:08 p.m. reporting there was an intoxicated woman in the store putting items in her purse.

When police arrived they waited for Garrison to exit the store and stopped her. Garrison's purse was open and officers saw the stolen items. According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers also found a plastic straw with a white-powdery substance that tested positive for meth. Garrison then became uncooperative and was arrested on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, theft and public intoxication.

37-year-old Aimee Capps was arrested after police received a call that a woman had been in the store and placed items in her purse without paying for them. Capps left the store before police arrived at 8:54 p.m., but the employee was able to provide police with a description of the vehicle she left in. Police stopped that vehicle at the intersection of Seventh and R streets.

Capps, who was a passenger in the vehicle, told police she had purchased the items and police said she had some, but after giving officers consent to search the car, they found the other items she had stolen in her purse. They also located pills that Capps did not have a prescription for. Those pills were Gabapentin and Loratab. She was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and a legend drug and theft.
