Tea Party Raises $3,900 For Cancer Patient Services

Last updated on Tuesday, May 27, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Many thanks from the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services (LCCPS) for all those who helped with our fundraising tea on April 26.

The very active board helped in so many ways, donating all the food, prizes, tickets, programs and anything LCCPS needed.

LCCPS thanks each lady who set a table and invited friends and all those who came to support them and those who bought items at the silent auction. We also thank Shawna Girgis for the entertainment and they want to thank 1340 AM WBIW, Times-Mail, Copy Trolley and Hair Sensations for publicity.

LCCPS thanks all the businesses in Lawrence County and also outside the county, who donated items for the silent auction. Because everything is donated, LCCPS raised $3,900 for cancer patients in Lawrence County. And LCCPS had fun, food, and fellowship! If you missed this great event, LCCPS will do it again in two years.

The Lawrence County Museum would also like to thank everyone who helped make the 13th annual Brain Games the fun-filled, action-packed success that they were. Sponsors included:

In addition to those listed above, they would like to thank the anonymous sponsor "Friends of the Museum" and Bedford Federal Savings Bank for their advertising support. Pynco deserves special mention, because in addition to sponsoring two teams, Pynco provided the $500 in prize money awarded to the champion and runner-up teams. Little Theatre provided the perfect venue for the Brain Games, for which they are always grateful.

They would also like to thank all 160 players who volunteered to serve on a team and bravely stepped up to support the museum.

Last, but not least, they would like to thank the dedicated team of volunteers who made the 2014 Brain Games a reality: moderator Joe Timbrook; timer Terry Kirkman; backstage organizer Rowena Mount; question writer Glenda Reynolds; judges Lowell Dawson and Brad Bough, lighting manager Larry King, scorekeepers, set-up crew, registration desk persons and committee members Bill Schrader, Jim Buher, Becky Buher, Janet King, Kenny White, Greg Nikirk, Joyce Shepherd, Emily Engstrom, Phil Mitchell, Jessie Day, Euretta Griggs, Jim Mount and Jeff Routh.
