State Officials Will Discuss Healthy Indiana Plan Expansion In Bedford

Last updated on Friday, May 30, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Officials from Governor Pence’s administration will be in Bedford on Tuesday to detail the Governor’s plans to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan to cover approximately 350,000 more Hoosiers.

IU Health Bedford Hospital will host "a conversation about the future of health care in Indiana" featuring State Health Commissioner Dr. William VanNess and Brian Neale, Health Policy Director in the office of Governor Mike Pence. The event is open to the public, and will take place in the McReynolds Conference Room at IU Health Bedford Hospital, 2900 West 16th Street at 12:30 p.m.

Governor Pence recently announced his plans to advance private, market-based Medicaid reforms in Indiana by expanding the current Healthy Indiana Plan. Pence unveiled HIP 2.0, a consumer-driven health care coverage program for low-income adults that builds on Indiana's history of consumer-driven health care while providing new incentives for members to take personal responsibility for their health.

"We are excited to host Dr. Van Ness and Mr. Neale for this open community discussion," said Brad Dykes, IU Health Bedford Hospital CEO. "HIP 2.0 will address and impact health care access in this community, so we look forward to learning more about how Governor Pence's proposal will help residents in Lawrence County and throughout the state."

Anyone interested in attending should park at the back of the hospital facility and enter the hospital through the glass doors to the right of the ambulance bay. Go right down the hall and the McReynolds Conference Room is on the left.
