Residents Warned To Ignore Calls From United Publishers Network

Last updated on Friday, May 30, 2014

(UNDATED) - Business First is warning customers who receive a call from a company named United Publishers Network, - to hang up the phone.

The company has nothing to do with your local Business First subscription. The company is not authorized to offer Business First subscriptions. Business First is suggesting that its customers ignore the phone calls.

The company, United Publishers Network, located in Medford, OR, has an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau. In November, 2012, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding the improper billing and collection practices of the business. Consumers allege they receive bills from the company for magazines they currently have subscriptions for, implying it is time for renewal. However, consumers claim the subscriptions are not expired, nor did they originally order through the company. Consumers also allege the company's renewal advertisement states it has the lowest renewal fee, but consumers find that renewing directly through their magazine's publisher costs less. Consumers also allege the company charges a $20 processing fee to cancel renewals. The company has received 876 complaints over three years.

Business First encourages you to complain to the BBB and the State Attorney General's Office. For renewal notices, Business First always displays an official logo and asks that payment be made to their customer service center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
