Police Investigating Armed Robbery At Speedway Gas Station

Last updated on Friday, May 23, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County detectives are investigating an armed-robbery at the Speedway gas station at the junction of Ind. 37 and U.S. 50 West.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Branham, dispatch received a call from the alarm company that a hold up was in progress.

LCPD Capt. Jerome Hettle arrived on the scene six minutes later.

"The suspect had fled before he arrived," Branham says. "The male attendant told police that a male with a bandana or some type of mask entered the story displayed a weapon and ordered him to hand over the money, which the attendant did."

The man, who police do have a physical description of, then fled the store.

"We also have a vehicle that we believe was involved and that was caught on the surveillance video," Branham says. "Detectives are in the process of following up leads and we should have more information later."

Branham says no one was injured during the robbery and there were no other individuals in the store, except the attendant, when the robbery occurred.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lawrence County Police.
