Orange Historical Society Offering Genealogy Classes

(PAOLI) - The Orange Historical Society has opened the museum on the northwest corner of the square in Paoli.

The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday through November. The group is renovating the basement of the museum into a genealogy library. Anyone interested in visiting the museum during times other than its regularly scheduled hours should call Becky Gardner at (812) 620-6554 to make arrangements.

n Genealogy classes: The society again will sponsor genealogy classes at the Paoli Public Library, which is on Water Street in Paoli. The classes will meet from 1-3 p.m. on Saturdays, May 17, 24 and 31. The cost will be $10 per class. The money will go to support the public library.

The class will begin with a session called "How To Get Started with Your Family Research." Further discussion will focus on the types of information that can be found in the United States Federal Census from 1850 to 1940. Anyone interested in the class should sign up at the library. Payment will be due at the beginning of each session.

n Membership drive: The society is conducting a membership drive. Anyone interested in more information should call Gardner at (812) 755-1507 or Janet Newton at (812) 723-2875.
