Mitchell Farmers' Market Opens Saturday, Bedford's May 17

Last updated on Thursday, May 8, 2014

(UNDATED) - The Mitchell Farmers’ Market will open Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.

In its second year the market is located near Seventh Street and Mississippi Avenue, a block south of Main Street.

Kellie Kemple, one of the organizers of the farmers market, says last year there were 30 vendors that participated and they are hoping for more this year.

Vendors can sign up at Amish & Friends General Store on West Main Street or at the Saturday Market. The annual registration fee is $20 per booth.

Each week, the farmers' market was sponsored by various businesses throughout the Lawrence County, with gift certificates and products given away each week from those businesses. This week's market will be sponsored by Sipes Body & Glass. The first 25 customers will receive reusable shopping bags. One customer will receive a gift certificate for free auto detailing.

Information can be obtained from Donna Bell, 508-2504, or by calling Amish & Friends, 849-1139.

The Bedford Farmers' Market will open at 8 a.m. May 17 on the west side of the Lawrence County Courthouse square.

That is also the same weekend at the Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale, and the market will feature a yard sale in conjunction with the usual variety of home-grown produce.
