Man Killed After Motorcycle Crashes Into Highway Grader

Last updated on Tuesday, May 27, 2014

(NASHVILLE) - Just after Noon on Friday, a motorcyclist lost his life on Salt Creek Road east of Nashville and south of Brown Hill Road.

49-year-old Louis Sitter of Greenwood was killed after a collision with a Brown County Highway Department Grader Tractor while on his 2007 Honda Motorcycle.

Sitter was traveling southbound on Salt Creek Road headed toward State Road 46 and lost control of his motorcycle, laying it down left of center and directly into the northbound path of the John Deere Grader Tractor. 37-year-old John Rodgers of Morgantown, who was driving the Brown County Highway Department grader, took evasive action but was not able to avoid Sitter.

Indiana Law requires drivers involved in a serious personal injury or fatal crash to submit to a chemical test which Rodgers willingly did. Officers at the scene had no reason to believe that Rodgers was under the influence of any drug or chemical that would be attributed to the crash.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department along with the Nashville Police Department and the Brown County Coroner assisted at the scene.
