(SALEM) - A Salem child abuse case in which the alleged abuser sent text messages about hurting the toddler took another unusual twist at the sentencing hearing for the child’s mother, Rose McNeely.
Among the witnesses testifying at the hearing in Washington Circuit Court was Bradley Henson, McNeely's current boyfriend.
During the hearing Henson became belligerent and stormed out of the courtroom, striking the door as he exited. McNeely's attorney, Ethan Bartanen, went after him, but he refused to come back into the courtroom.
Judge Larry Medlock immediately held a contempt of court hearing and sentenced Henson to 180 days to be served at the Washington County Detention Center.
Henson learned of the action and returned later, entering the courtroom and interrupting another proceeding. Medlock had noted if Henson returned and could redeem himself, he would reconsider his sentence. Henson apologized, but then became angered again and made a rude hand gesture. Medlock then upheld his original sentence.
