Loogootee Taxpayers Will Pay More Than $200K For Superintendents

Last updated on Thursday, May 15, 2014

(LOOGOOTEE) - Beginning in July, Loogootee taxpayers will spend more than $200,000 to pay two school superintendents.

Former Superintendent Larry Weitkamp, under the terms of his contract, will be paid $105, 822 through June 2015. Laura Mattingly Hannum, former elementary principal, was named interim superintendent and the board will pay her $77,604.

Board President Scott Hall say Weitkamp will be paid through the end of his contract, using vacation and unused sick days. He worked for the school corporation for more than 40 years.

Hall declined to say if Weitkamp just abruptly left his position or whether he was forced out by the board. The board had voted to extend Weitkamp's contracts just two months before he was replaced.
