Judge Michael Robbins To Be Honored At Breakfast

(EAST OOLITIC) - Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge Michael Robbins will be honored at a breakfast Saturday at the East Oolitic Community Center on Denson Street.

The public is invited to attend.

The breakfast is $5 a person and includes eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, waffles and a beverage. The cost is $5 and children eat free. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

According to Tug Beal, one of the organizers for the event, many special guests will attend to honor Judge Robbins, including Democratic Nominee for the 9th Congressional District Bill Bailey and Oolitic Deputy Marshal Bill Allen. Also invited were Sheriff Sam Craig and Chief Deputy Mike Branham and many others.

Robbins joined the court in 2002.

He received his BS from Indiana University. He received his J.D. from Indiana University's McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.

Prior to joining the court, Robbins worked in several areas of the law. He worked in private practice from 1972 to 1974.

In 1974, he was elected Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney, serving one term. He then returned to private practice until 1983, when he joined his brother, Patrick, in heading ConvaCare Services, Inc. The brothers sold the business in 1999.

Robbins was appointed to the court in 2002, and was elected to a full term in 2006.

Robbins ran for re-election against Lewis Maudlin in the 2012 election. He was successful in his bid, receiving 59.8% of the vote.
