Exile To Perform At BNL Performing Arts Center

Last updated on Thursday, May 8, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Exile will perform at the Bedford North Lawrence Performing Arts Center May 10 as part of its 50th anniversary tour.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Exile, assembled in the 1960s, first made waves on the international rock scene in 1978 with the smash hit "Kiss You All Over." But the Kentucky-based band crossed over into the realm of country music in 1983 and excelled producing 13 Top-10 singles.

Through the decades, Exile has recorded for Warner Bros., RCA, Epic, Arista Nashville, and Intersound record labels. While more than 20 musicians have performed as part of Exile, the touring quintet now features J.P. Pennington and Les Taylor on guitars and vocals, Sonny LeMaire on bass and vocals, keyboardist Marlon Hargis and drummer Steve Goetzman.

Pennington is considered among Nashville's more gifted songwriters. Not only did he compose many of Exile's hits, he wrote Janie Fricke's "It Ain't Easy Bein' Easy" and Alabama's "The Closer You Get" and "Take Me Down."
