(LINTON) - 41-year-old Christina Sperling, of Linton, was arrested on a warrant after she allegedly used another woman's debit card without permission.

On April 12th, the other woman reported to the Linton Police Department that she had stopped at the Country Porch gas station the day before and made a purchase. She later discovered that her debit card was missing and realized she had left it at the Country Porch. When she went to retrieve her card and a clerk told her they had placed it on top of their safe.

The clerk was unable to fine the debit card.

The woman then reviewed her banking account transactions, and found the debit card had been used twice since she left it at the gas station. The first transaction, for $50, was at just after 6 a.m. on Apr. 12, and the second $55 transaction was at just after 11 a.m. the same day. Police say the second receipt had been signed and the signature was not the card holders.

Police went to the Country Porch, and learned that after the woman who owned the card called the there had been two transactions made with it after she had left it behind, a clerk printed an itemized transaction report and found that the purchases were made at the store.
Police say Sperling was the only clerk working at the Country Porch at the time the purchases were made. Police questioned Sperling who at first denied the allegations. She then admitted to the crime saying she was just trying to put food on the table.

Sperling was arrested and is facing two counts of theft and one count of forgery. She was released from the Greene County Jail last Thursday after posting bond.
