(BLOOMINGTON) - A sentencing hearing in the theft case against former Monroe County Auditor Amy Gerstman scheduled for Wednesday afternoon was postponed.
Special prosecutor Barry Brown say he and defense attorney Ron Chapman received presentence investigation reports late. Both men asked the court for more time to review the reports, which include Indiana State Board of Accounts audits and Monroe County probation records.
Amy Gerstman plead guilty to using her county-issued credit card for personal purchases she made while in office.
The case against Gerstman, who is charged with seven felonies, was moved to Owen County because of potential conflict of interest with Monroe County judges. Special prosecutor Barry Brown is presenting the case for the state.
Gerstman served as the Monroe County auditor from 2009 to 2012.
In May 2013, Gerstman was charged with seven felonies, including six counts of theft and one count of official misconduct, in connection with personal purchases made on her county-issued Visa credit card.
According to court records Gerstman is accused of using taxpayer money for women's clothing, airline tickets and hotel accommodations for a personal trip to Key West, Fla., school tuitionfor her children at Harmony School and her Indiana University Alumni Association membership dues.
Some officials called for Gerstman's resignation after a State Board of Accounts audit revealed she used county credit cards to charge thousands of dollars in personal expenses. However she did not resign and was allowed to serve out her entire four-year term.
