(JASONVILLE) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 44-year-old Brenda Daniels of Jasonville.
The Greene County Daily World reports that Daniels is accused of removing evidence from the body of a deceased person before medical and police personnel arrived on the scene.
She will be charged with obstruction of justice.
According to police, officers went to a home in on Meridian Street on December 6 after a report of an unresponsive woman. When police arrived they found a 23-year-old woman dead.
Daniels and others in the home told police the woman was fine when she went to bed, but Daniels discovered her the woman around 8 a.m. on the bathroom floor.
While police were at the scene they discovered a large amount of prescription medications. Witnesses told police Daniels was blaming herself for the woman's death and that she had disposed of a needle in the home and removed two pain patches from the woman's mouth before attempting to perform CPR.
When Daniels was asked if she had removed anything from the scene or the woman's body she denied it, but did say the woman had got one of Daniel's Fentanyl patches and ate it.
The same day as the death police obtained a search warrant for the home and discovered the discarded patch that had been in the woman's mouth. When toxicology results from a blood sample were returned on the deceased they found Fentanyl in the woman's system.
