(UNDATED) - Spring storms expected later this week have the potential to bring severe weather to much of Indiana.

Warm air funneling into Indiana from the southwest and a cold front approaching from the west will set the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms on Thursday, possibly into Friday.

Damaging wind and isolated tornadoes are the main threat, according to meteorologists.

All except far northern Indiana is in a slight risk of severe weather on Thursday. Though the hail threat is lower, there could also be some small hail in the storms.

The severe weather threat in Indiana is not expected to be as high as it will be in areas to the south and southwest of the state, where there is even greater potential of damaging wind and tornadoes.

A round of thunderstorms, some possibly severe, is possible early in the day Thursday and again later in the day.

The severe weather threat will end Friday with the passage of the cold front.

The risk area could shift over the next couple of days as the storm system evolves.
