Murder Victim Identified, One Suspect Arrested

(LINTON) - One man is dead and another was arrested after a shooting outside of Linton Sunday night.

According to Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce, 47-year-old Michael Shan Bowers of Linton died from a gun shot wound.

The incident happened in a rural location outside of Linton on County Road 900 West.

According to the Greene County Daily World, law enforcement personnel from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, the Greene County Prosecutor's Office and the Greene County Coroner's Office had worked through the night Sunday, but were not releasing many details.

Detectives and other officers were continuing to work on the investigation Monday.

At 4:40 a.m. Monday, 32-year-old Aaron Lee Schaffer of Linton was arrested and is facing felony murder and one count of possession of a handgun without a license.

An autopsy will be performed on Bower on Tuesday at 8 a.m. and will be performed by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
