Mock Terrorist Event To Take Place Wednesday At BNL

Last updated on Tuesday, April 1, 2014

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Health Department in order to test emergency procedures involving a terrorist event using anthrax will conduct a point of distribution drill at the Bedford North Lawrence High School Gym on Wednesday morning.

Anthrax was first introduced as a biological agent via chocolate candy. Anthrax exposure can be prevented or treated by antibiotics.

Dispensing these antibiotics to a large number of citizens is the main focus of the drill.

Emergency vehicles will be present at the school as part of the drill.

The Health Department does not want citizens to be alarmed that there is an actual emergency occurring on the
school grounds.

Anyone with questions can contact the Lawrence County Health Department at 812-275-3234.
