Last updated on Tuesday, April 15, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Jasonville man was arrested after he went to the Greene County Courthouse April 4 to attend a wedding ceremony in the Clerk’s Office.

The Greene County Daily World reports that 57-year-old Barry St. John was arrested when he went through courthouse security and officers discovered a baggy of marijuana.

Three women and two men, including St. John, entered the main door of the courthouse where all visitors must pass through a security check. St. John told police he had a pocket knife and he was going to take it back to his vehicle.

When he returned he emptied his pockets of change, keys, a prescription medication and a plastic baggie that contained a green leafy substance. When asked what it was, St. John told police it was pot.

After passing through the metal detector he was asked to sit on a bench until a deputy could arrived and he was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.

After the marriage ceremony upstairs, a courthouse employee told police family members were counting their cash and posted St. John's bond.

St. John is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on April 21 for an initial hearing.
