(NASHVILLE) - Isaac Gluesenkamp will receive a full-tuition scholarship to the Indiana college of his choice as the Brown County Community Foundation's 2014 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.

In addition to the four-year award, Lilly Scholars get a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment.

The Brown County Democrate reports, Gluesenkamp is the son of Dan and Deb Gluesenkamp of Nashville. He is a senior at Brown County High School. He has applied to Wabash College, DePauw University, Indiana University, Butler University and Indiana-Purdue University. He plans to major in biology and follow the pre-med track.

Fifteen students applied for the scholarship. A Brown County Community Foundation scholarship committee scored applicants based on scholastic profile, personal recommendations, school activities, community activities, a personal goals statement and written essay. Finalists were then asked to write an impromptu essay and were interviewed.
After the committee narrowed the field to five nominees, the finalists' names were submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana Inc. for the selection of the recipient. ICI is a nonprofit corporation that represents 31 regionally accredited degree-granting, nonprofit, private colleges and universities in the state.

The scholarships are the result of a statewide Lilly Endowment initiative to help Hoosier students reach higher levels of education.
