Friends Of Milwaukee Trails Looking For Volunteers

Last updated on Wednesday, April 23, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Volunteers for the Friends of the Milwaukee Trails are needed Friday and Saturday.

The bridge will mark the beginning of the trail near l Street. According to Marcey Phillips, the goal is to add sub-decking and final decking to the O Street bridge, add rails for security and clean the entire area of brush and debris.

This is an important milestone toward the completion of Phase 1 which is the 6 mile stretch from the O Street bridge.

Work will begin at 8 a.m. both days and lunch will be provided. If you only have a few hours to give, come at any time, crews will be working all day.

If you have cordless drills or impact tools, trimmers and landscaping tools, trash bags please bring them. Crews will work rain or shine so wear protective clothing and bring insect repellent.

If you have not viewed the safety video or signed the waiver, please do so by going to their website at www.indianatrails.com.

O Street will be closed to traffic so volunteers need to park along the street near the underpass on the south side of the trail along 10th Street.

Window clings are still available for $5 each. To donate or to learn more about the trail projects contact Phillips at 278-0511 or drop by Healthy Balance Wellness Center, on Fifth Street or visit the group on Facebook.
