(BLOOMINGTON) - The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating a Saturday afternoon landing at the Monroe County Airport after the front landing gear of a small, two-passenger plane gave out as it touched down on the runway.
The aircraft was sitting on its nose at about 12:40 p.m. Saturday, shutting down one of the airport's two runways for the next hour and a half after what Monroe County Airport director Bruce Payton described as a bad landing.
The FAA will have to determine whether to officially classify the landing as an accident, Payton said, but the pilot didn't sustain any major injuries.
