Delaney Creek Park Will Add Six More Annual Camping Sites

Last updated on Tuesday, April 8, 2014

(SALEM) - Six more spots for annual campers are being added at Delaney Creek Park.

John Burlington, manager of the park, says several contractors have visited the sites and gave quotes on the cost of running water and sewer lines. He anticipates the sites will generate an additional $9,000 for the park after the first year.

Campsites, used by people who keep campers parked there year-round, generate about $106,000 annually.

Burlington says the additional sites will bring the number of permanent campsites to 79 and has a list of 32 individuals who want a spot.

The board acknowledged that Delaney has plenty of room to grow, but officials say there is a need to balance expansion with the park's natural beauty.
