(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, Commission on the Status of Black Males, United Way of Monroe County, Indiana University Robert Milisen Speech and Hearing Clinic and Osmon Chiropractic Center are sponsoring a health and wellness fair on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the atrium at City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.
The health and wellness fair is to commemorate National Public Health Week which is April 7-13. In 1995, former President William Jefferson Clinton proclaimed the first full week of April as National Public Health Week (NPHW). Each year since then, the public health community has celebrated this observance by focusing on important issues to improve the public's health. The role of public health professionals is to protect communities from disease and injury and encourage Americans to live safe, healthy lives.
IU Health Bloomington Hospital will provide free screenings which include A1C (non-fasting screening for Diabetes), blood pressure, hearing, spinal health, HIV and carbon monoxide. Exhibits will include information on immunizations, family planning, safe food handling, Medical Reserve Corps, sodium reduction and blood pressure, emergency preparedness, and mental health. Attendees will be eligible for raffle prizes. This event is free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served.
