City Signs Contract To Move Forward With Stellar Projects

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Board of Works signed a series of contracts to move forward with three Stellar Community project.

The paperwork covers: moving the old Milwaukee Depot downtown and refurbishing it for use as offices; constructing a downtown trail that will head up Lincoln Avenue and link with a trail along the old Milwaukee Railroad; and making various improvements to the streetscapes downtown.

The Times-Mail reports that the documents cover the city's agreements with the Indiana Department of Transportation and with Bernardin, Lochmueller & Associates Inc. the survey, planning, engineering and environmental firm helping the city with the work.

The documents signed cover:

An agreement with INDOT for the trail work. The contract terms call for INDOT to cover 80 percent of the project costs up to $2,570,400.

An agreement with INDOT for one phase of the streetscape project. INDOT will pay 80 percent of the "eligible project costs" up to $642,600.

A second agreement with INDOT for another phase of the streetscape work. As in the paperwork for the other phase, INDOT agrees to pay 80 percent of the eligible project costs up to $642,600.

An agreement with INDOT for moving and renovating the Milwaukee Depot. The paperwork calls for INDOT to provide funds for 80 percent of the project costs, up to $2,144,400.

An agreement with BLA for work on the trail and streetscapes, at a cost that "shall not exceed $649,050."

A separate agreement with BLA for work on the Milwaukee Depot project at a price that "shall not exceed $424,744."
