Breathe New Life Into Old Items

Last updated on Friday, April 18, 2014

(MITCHELL) - Join the Mitchell Community Public Library for its Recycled Reads program.

Through Recycled Reads, participants will learn how to breathe new life into damaged items from the library's collection. Every fourth Thursday of the month, from 1-3 p.m., the library will offer a drop-in craft program using damaged items from its collection.

No registration is required, and all materials will be provided by the library.

The following is a schedule of upcoming craft events:

April 24: How to re-purpose old magazines into coasters, placemats and decorative wall art.

May 22: Using newspapers to create origami flowers.

June 26: Using CDs and DVDs to create wind chimes.

Also, on Thursday, from 3-5 p.m., you can visit the library and make your own T-shirt for Autism Awareness Month.
Participants can either use a set design or make their own. Participants will have to bring their own T-shirt, but the library will furnish the fabric paint. Participants must be older than age 12 or be accompanied by a caregiver who will assist them.
