(BEDFORD) - A 17-year-old Bedford teen was cited into court after Bedford North Lawrence school officials found three knives, a schedule II controlled substance, a bottle that contained an alcoholic beverage and cigarettes on school property.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says officers were alerted about the items at 7:13 a.m. Monday.

"The liquid in the bottle tested positive for alcohol and the teen had one pilled that was a schedule II controlled substance," Craig added.

The girl was then transported to her home in the 7600 block of State Road 158 where she was released to the custody of her parents.
