Woman Gets No Jail Time For Supplying Drugs To Man Who Died From Overdose

Last updated on Friday, March 14, 2014

(BROWNSTOWN) - A 20-year-old Seymour woman will receive no jail time after supplying methadone to a man who died of a drug overdose.

Brooke Herron, who had just turned 18 when she was arrested, pleaded guilty to one count of dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance, a Class B felony, on Feb. 11.

Judge Bill Vance did not accept the six-year prison term Deputy Prosecutor Jeffrey Chalfant recommended and on Wednesday ordered Herron to serve six years of supervised probation. She also will have to complete a drug and alcohol diversion program.

Herron, was arrested on charges of dealing methadone, a schedule II controlled substance and reckless homicide in the death of 19-year-old Andrew "Drew" Nichols.

Nichols was found dead at his home Sept. 6 of an apparent overdose, according to police. Herron was arrested because police say she sold Nichols the drugs he overdosed on.
