Shawswick Boys Basketball Team Claims Championship

(BEDFORD) - The Shawswick sixth-grade boys basketball team wrapped up its season last week by claiming the county championship.

The Farmers got past Bedford Middle School, 45-33, in the championship game, using a 21-9 run in the third quarter to gain control of the contest.

The Farmers finished the school season with a 9-0 record and were 21-3 overall for the year.

Shawswick got past Oolitic, 54-29, to advance to the title.

A big rebound by Tyler Scott and a steal by Issac Martin helped turn the tide for the Farmers, who got a game-high 27 points from Brayton Bailey and 14 from Dalton Nikirk.

Tate Key added three points and Owen Beaver tossed in one for the winners, while Blake Martinez, Shane Kern, Eli Hargis, Nicholas Isom and Luke Hoffman rounded out the Shawswick roster.
