Seven Arrested On Felony Drug Charges In Orange County

(WEST BADEN SPRINGS) - Seven Orange County residents are facing felony drug and stolen property charges.

Officers from the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Paoli and Indiana State police executed two search warrants at two homes in West Baden Springs Thursday night.

According to Chief Deputy Josh Babcock, police seized meth, marijuana, stolen property and 18 firearms including one pistol and two SKS automatic assault rifles.

Arrested were:

David Turner, 42, West Baden Springs, dealing in methamphetamine while possessing a firearm, a Class B felony; possession of met, a Class C felony; dealing in marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor;possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of stolen property, a Class D felony, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.

Alyssa Burkhardt, 19, West Baden Springs, maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony, and possession of stolen property, a Class D felony.

Josh Key, Paoli, 20, visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor.

Lonnie Nelson, 39, homeless, visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor.

Dustin Parker, 29, Paoli, possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony, possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor.

Roger "Pokey" Purkhiser, 34, West Baden Springs, possession of methamphetamine while possessing a firearm, a Class C felony; dealing in marijuana, a Class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.

Erica Elkins, 26, West Baden Springs, possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.

Information from the sheriff's department reports the first of the two warrants was executed at the home of Turner and Burkhardt. The second was executed at the home of Purkhiser and Elkins.

"Once again, this shows the connection with the narcotics trade and the thefts we have in the county," Babcock says in a news release.

He says all seven who were incarcerated were taken to the Orange County jail to await initial court appearances.
