Police Find Active Meth Lab

Last updated on Wednesday, March 12, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig is again warning residents who find suspicious packages or backpacks to leave them alone and call police.

On Tuesday afternoon officers received a 911 call reporting a suspicious bag in an alley in the 600 block of 16th Street.

When officers arrived they discovered an active one-pot meth lab inside the bag.

"Officers secured the area to keep residents safe," Craig says. "While checking the area they discovered two more labs, that were not active."

The labs were removed from the scene and disposed of.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the police department.

Craig reminds residents who find suspicious packages to call police immediately and not to touch, move or handle the items.

Anyone who wants to report drug activity can do so anonymously through the departments website or by calling the Sheriff's Department Tip-Line at 277-2020.
