Paoli Man Hurt After Vehicle Hits Tree

(MITCHELL)- A Paoli man was injured after his vehicle left the roadway Thursday morning and hit a tree.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 68-year-old Truman Gilliatt was traveling west on Ind. 60 East and had a flat tire on his 2006 Chevrolet Avalance.

He told police he then hit a patch of ice on the roadway causing him to lose control of the truck. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and into an embankment then hit a fence and tree.

Gilliatt complained of head pain and was taken by ambulance to IU Paoli Hospital by a Seals ambulance crew.

Also assisting at the scene were Marion Volunteer Fire Deparment and Bedford Fire Department extrication unit.
