One Arrested, Police Looking For Two Others In Murder Of Rodney Allender

(BEDFORD) - One teen has been arrested and police are looking for two others for the murder of 43-year-old Rodney Allender

Police have arrested 18-year-old Austin M. Curtis and charged him with murder and robbery.

He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.

Warrants have been issued for 19-year-old Taylor M. Flynn of Bedford and 16-year-old Dillon M. Hicks. Both are wanted on chargs of murder. Hicks is also wanted on a runaway charge.

Flynn is 5-foot, 8-inches tall and weighs 135 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Dillon is 5-foot, 8 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says the teens could be in a white 1995 Chevrolet Beretta two-door Z-26, with Indiana license plate number 787LNM.

Both teens could be armed with guns and are considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on Flynn or Hicks are asked to not approach them but to call police at 275-3316.

Allender's body was discovered by his son and girlfriend Thursday night about 9:40 p.m. at his home in the 1700 block of Dutch Ridge Road. The home is in a remote area in northeastern Lawrence County.

Accordring to an autopsy performed Friday Allender died from blunt force trauma,

Sheriff Craig says Allender was the target of the crime.

"The motive was robbery," he added. "They took money and firearms from the home."

Craig added the public's cooperation helped with solving the case.

"The public participation in this investigation was forth coming which provided us with valuable suspect information. As a result of that information obtained from many witnesses an arrest was made," Craig says.
