Odon Battling With Wastewater Treatment System

Last updated on Monday, March 24, 2014

(ODON) - The Odon Town Board continues to grapple with the town’s wastewater treatment system.

Odon is under an order from the Environmental Protection Agency to stop discharging untreated sewage overflow into Kane Ditch.

According to the Odon Journal, the town recently paid a fine because of the violations and is currently operating under an "agreed order".

The problems with the waste water system were the main topics discussed at a special Town Board meeting held a week ago, and at Monday night's meeting.

With the assistance of the Southern Indiana Development Commission, the Odon Town Board is seeking grants and other funding sources to pay for the multi-million dollar waste-water project and interviewing engineering firms to oversee the project.
