(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Police detectives traveled to Ironton, Ohio and brought back two teens involved in the murder of 43-year-old Rodney Allender.
Police booked 16-year-old Dillon Hicks, of 9307 Ind. 37 South and 19-year-old Taylor Flynn, of 334 BJ Boulevard, into the jail at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday.
Both are charged with murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Also charged in the crime is 18-year-old Austin Curtis, of Bedford
According to a probable cause affidavit, Lawrence County Police were called to a home at 1758 Dutch Ridge Road on Thursday February, 27 after Clinton Allender and his girlfriend arrived to find Rodney Allender murdered.
According to police, the teens had planned the attack and had staked out Allender's home for several days before committing the crime.
To trick Allender into opening his door, Flynn allegedly dressed up like a girl and requested to use the phone.
Allender was then shot in the leg by Flynn and the other teens repeatedly beat Allender and then tied him up with duct tape and string.
Police say the teens allegedly hit and tased repeatedly until Allender gave them the combinations to his safe.
The teens allegedly ransacked Allender's home and stole money and guns.
Officers found the home in disarray with furniture overturned, a door ripped off the hinges, a desk emptied and papers thrown around and two safes open and emptied. Police noted there was blood throughout the home.
Rodney Allender was found in his garage lying on his side with a severe head injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teens were arrested after police received several tips about the teens bragging about the crime before and after it happened.
Curtis was arrested early Saturday morning after police asked him to come to the station and they found blood on his shoes and the shoes matched prints found at the crime scene. Curtis also allegedly admitted to committing the crime.
Flynn and Hicks were captured Saturday afternoon in Ironton, Ohio after a vehicle and foot pursuit.
Ironton is located in Lawrence County, Ohio, along the Ohio River near the intersection of the Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia state boarders.
According to Ironton Police Chief Dan Johnson, an officer remembered seeing the white 1995 Chevrolet Beretta, used in the crime, during his patrols.
Chief Johnson says Flynn and Hicks fled, leading police on a car chase through parts of the city and into a residential area, where officers stopped the pursuit after the Barretta almost hit several children.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle, but soon found it again. The teens stopped the car and then fled on foot and police found them hiding in the back of a van.
If found guilty of the murder the teens could serve an advisory sentence of 55 years, a minimum sentence of 45 years and a maximum sentence of 65 years in prison and fined up to $10,000.
If found guilty of the robbery causing serious bodily injury. They could face an advisory sentence of 30 years, a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 50 years and fined up to $10,000.
Curtis appeared in court Tuesday for an initial hearing. Judge William Sleva entered a not guilty plea for Curtis. He is being held without bond.
Flynn and Hicks will have their intital hearing within the next 72 hours.
