Last updated on Friday, March 28, 2014

(SALEM) - A convicted burglary received a 50 year prison sentence in Washington Superior Court last week.

44-year-old Shane Keller was sentenced by Judge Frank Newkirk, who added 30 years based on Keller being a habitual offender.

Prosecutor Dustin Houchin says Keller's criminal history dates back 27 years. His first conviction was in 1987, for theft. Keller has numerous theft, burglary and receiving stolen property convictions and has been in court every few years since his initial arrest. He was also convicted in Orange County in 1989 on two counts of auto theft and in Harris Texas in 1993 on possession of cocaine, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement.

His current conviction is for the June 2013 burglary of a Beck's Mill Road home where he stole several items including a small engine, circular saw, a large amount of wood flooring, a turkey and a Little Caesar frozen pizza kits.

The homeowner's security camera caught images of Keller stealing the items.

He was convicted by a jury in February on felony charges of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.
