Man Arrested After Road Rage Incident

Last updated on Monday, March 3, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after a road-rage incident Saturday afternoon.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, an off-duty Bedford police officer was going through the drive through at Arbys Saturday afternoon when he saw a male in a red Mustang turn from Ind. 37 onto 29th Street at a high-rate of speed causing the Mustang to slide sideways.

The officers notified dispatch and at the same time the department was receiving several 911 calls about the driver of the Mustang and possible road rage on Ind. 37.

The off-duty officer followed and a short distance later saw the Mustang pull along the black SUV and ram it, which caused both vehicles to go off the roadway.

Then 33-year-old David Moffatt got out of the Mustang and approached the SUV.

According to the driver of the SUV, who was Moffatt's soon to be ex-wife, Moffatt had followed her for a long distance on Ind. 37 attempting to get her to pull over so he could talk to her. The woman was refusing to do so.

Then when both vehicles were stopped at the red light on Ind. 37 and 29th, Moffat got out of his car and approached the SUV. That is when the light turned green and the woman drove around Moffat and his vehicle and turned on 29th Street attempting to avoid a confrontation.

Moffatt refused to talk to police at the scene.

He was arrested and charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon (a vehicle) and criminal recklessness with a vehicle.
