(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Transportation hosted a pre-construction meeting at INDOT Seymour District offices Thursday morning to coordinate future repair operations along 15.72 miles of U.S. Highway 50 in Jackson and Lawrence counties.

Both lanes of U.S. 50 will be patched and rehabilitated between State Road 446 and the CSX tracks near Brownstown.

Dave O'Mara, contractor of North Vernon, is the state's contractor for this $588,513 District Pavement Project. The company is charged with saw cutting and removing sections of failing pavement and repairing the roadway with full-depth or partial-depth asphalt patches. Some pavement repairs can measure thousands of feet in length.

No timetable has been established, but work should start by mid-spring. INDOT officials hope to complete the project by mid-August.

The state anticipates topping these U.S. 50 repairs with a chip seal application later in the year.
