(BEDFORD) - Residents that have accounts at Hoosier Hills Credit Union have nothing to fear if they received a call this weekend telling them their debit or credit card had been deactivated.
"We are aware of the calls and are addressing the issues," says bank representative Kaleigh Lee. "But if clients did give out their account information they need to contact us as soon as possible, so we can protect their accounts."
Lee says representative from Hoosier Hills Credit Union do not call residents and ask for account information for any reason.
The credit union received numerous calls this morning from clients worried about their accounts and reporting the scam.
Bedford, Lawrence County and Mitchell police also received numerous calls over the weekend reporting the incident.
"If residents receive one of these calls, hang up and never give out your personal information over the phone," Lee warns.
