(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana Department of natural Resources has delivered 22,000 bass to a Bloomington lake that is being replenished after it was drained in 2012 for dam repairs.

Griffy Lake, on Bloomington's north side , was drained to make repairs to the dam and dredge silt from the lake bed. The work cost $1.4 million and was financed by a state grant.

DNR Fisheries biologist David Kittak says the first shipment of bass was delivered to the city-owned lake last week. Several more shipments will be delivered this spring from state fish hatcheries.

Other fish that will be restocked at Griffy Lake are 82,000 bluegill, 27,000 redear and 22,000 crappie.
