(LOOGOOTEE) - The combination of an intoxicated driver, a slick roadway, and excessive speed resulted in a Sunday morning crash that injured five people.

According to Indiana State Trooper Jarrod Lents, at approximately 9:41 Sundy morning, 30-year-old Brandy C. Nobbe of Indianapolis, was traveling south on US 231 at Truelove Church Road when she lost control of her 2000 GMC Safari van on the slick roadway.

Nobbe crossed the northbound lane of travel and left the roadway, striking a ditch and a utility pole. The vehicle was totaled in the crash.

Nobbe, along with her passenger, 39-year-old Angel Royer of Loogootee, and three children were all transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for treatment.

Nobbe was admitted due to sustaining a fractured spine. Royer suffered a fractured sternum and was treated and released and then taken to jail after officers discovered she was wanted on warrant in Daviess and Spencer counties for check deception.

The other four passengers, 2-year-old Addison Royer of Loogootee, suffered a contusion on his cheek; 10-year-old Reinley Royer and 11-year-old Alexus Royer, both of Loogootee, suffered neck contusions. All three were treated and released.

Further investigation revealed that Nobbe tested positive for a controlled substance. Due to her being admitted to the hospital for injuries, she was cited into court on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with minor passengers and speed too fast for weather conditions.

Trooper Lents additionally found that Royer was wanted out of Daviess and Spencer counties for charges of check deception.

She was placed into custody and transported to the Daviess County Jail.
