(SEYMOUR) - A sprinkler system is credited with quickly extinguishing a fire that erupted when an oil line on an injection mold machine malfunctioned Monday night at an auto parts maker in Seymour.
No one was injured when the fire occurred at a Valeo plant at 1234 A Ave. North.
The Seymour Tribune reports that the fire, reported at 9:10 p.m., caused an unknown amount of damage inside the factory, according to Battalion Chief John Thomas with the Seymour Fire Department.
Chief Thomas says the four to six sprinkler heads contained and extinguished the fire.
He was unsure what caused the oil line to malfunction.
Valeo officials could not be reached for comment.
Valeo is the county's largest employer with nearly 1,750 workers, according to the Jackson County Industrial Development Corp.
