(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence senior Bret Roberts is headed to Franklin College and its rising women’s soccer program.
The Grizzlies were persistent in wooing the Lady Stars' Roberts and she signed on to play for the NCAA Division III school just south of Indianapolis starting in 2015.
Roberts, who was a forward most of her BNL career and wound up with nearly 40 goals, shifted to center midfield for her senior campaign in order to help orchestrate the offense and also help back defensively when needed. She still managed nine goals and six assists for the Stars, catching the eye of Franklin Coach Justin Sullivan.
Roberts is undecided on her major, but her excellent classroom work at BNL has earned her more than $20,000 in academic scholarships from Franklin. Division III schools are not allowed to offer athletic scholarships.
